DVRO has been made aware of a scheme of FAKE CHECKS, involving the Discount Vacation Rentals Online name and logo copied and printed on what appear to be genuine bank checks.

All checks are issued by a PNC bank, or so it appears. The bank account, however, is traced back to a community college in California. The account holder has been notified and the bank account is under FBI watch for any suspicious transactions in this regard.

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CASH OR DEPOSIT THESE CHECKS. Discount Vacation Rentals Online encourages a recipient of any of those checks to call PNC bank: (312) 384-6900. PNC will likely ask you to verify the check number and the account number on the check.

Discount Vacation Rentals Online has not issued any checks to any guests, previous guests or any people of the public without prior notification.

UPDATES:

So far, reports have been received from recipients in the Southwestern and Southeastern parts of the country, including Arizona, Texas, Florida and California. All checks have been issued, targeting one bank account from one account holder from the PNC bank.

An approximate 100 companies names and logos are being used as proclaimed issuers. Suspicion is raised that someone scraped various Craigslists and is sending these checks to people who are being asked to blog for a certain company.
