High Speed Internet Access ~ Orlando Vacation Home Rental

Maybe this page belongs in the FAQ section of our web site, but we are taking a minute to elaborate on what you can find in our vacation homes in Orlando when it comes to Internet. If a vacation rental mentions “internet” then it always means hi-speed or broadband.
However, one should never assume that there is also a computer in the home! More and more vacationers will bring their laptop or notebook with them and that instigated the use of broadband Internet availability in the Orlando vacation homes.
Dial-up Internet is always available in the home through the phone as all vacation homes will have a free-call service for local calls. All you need to do then is figure out who your Internet Service Provider (ISP) is at your house and they will no doubt also service your vacation home area locally. It shouldn’t be too difficult to find and once you have their local phone numberĀ then you hook upĀ your laptop in the rental home and dial in to that local number.
Back to Broadband: in most cases the broadband -if available in the rental- is provided by the cable company. A modem then is provided by the cable company or even with the DSL provider and you can simply plug in your computer in the modem. Attention: you will need to bring a phone cord to plug from your computer in the modem. You can call it “Good Practices” when traveling. Note DSL is provided by the phone provider in general but some cable providers have a DSL option as well. Both DSL and Cable broadband are hi-speed Internet options.
More and more broadband vacation homes in Orlando will have a router in the property. Not all but most of these routers will be wireless, meaning you have access to the internet with your laptop while sitting on the patio enjoying the Florida sunset. Again not all, but most laptops these days will have a built in card that allows them to pick up Wi-Fi signal and connect to it. It may be useful to test this out before venturing on your trip to Orlando. If your computer does not come with such a card then you can easily buy a wireless connection device in Best Buy or any local electronics store. They are plug-n-play usually and they are not expensive either.
When a wireless router is in the house you need to know the password to get access. Make sure you ask the property management company for the password. In most cases you will find the password tagged on the router or it is revealed in the Home Guide in the house, if not already anticipated by the property management company in your check-in paperwork.
Have fun surfing at the pool!
