Bedding in Orlando Vacation Rentals
Many people are not familiar with the american sizes of bedding i.e. bed types.
For good measure: these are the official and going sizes of beds in most hotels and vacation rentals in the USA.
1) The KING: goes under the name Standard King or Eastern King and measures 76″ wide and 80″ long. If a King is referred to as a California King or Western King, it means that it is 72″ wide and 84″ long. The standard King is exactly the same size as if you would push 2 twin beds together. Most Kings have two box springs (twin size) and one mattress for example.
2) The QUEEN: as referred in hotel or vacation rental bedding sizes 60″ wide and 80″ long.
3) The FULL: or the Full Size or also named a Double, is again 6″ narrower than a Queen size but it is shorter than a Queen! The Full measures 54″ wide and 75″ long.
4) The Twin: also called a Single. Unless specified different, a “Twin Bedroom” will host 2 Twin beds. Twin beds can usually easily be joined together it necessary if one is careful with the fragile headboards that will need support when moving the twins around. The headboards are attached with 1 or 2 screws usually and can be easily damaged. The Twin measures: 39″ wide and 75″ long. Rare but you may find the Extra Long Twin beds (80″ long) in student dorms for example, not in hotels or vacation rental homes normally.
5) The Bunk: There are a variety of bunk beds on the market. The most common are the ones with a full size at the bottom (sometimes this may be a Queen size) and a Twin size on top. As you may have guessed, these beds are also just 75″ long. Some kids rooms may have a bunk bed that will have two twins on top of each other. Trends in the vacation rental market are that you will find more and more Bunks that have two Full sizes on top of each other, making this room often a bit ‘bulky’.
