Disney is always exploring new ways to satisfy their guests, whether it be with new thrills and attractions, or just filling up the tummy’s of your little tigers running about the parks. Walt Disney World recently began offering a new food choice at the Animal Kingdom Park known as the Picnic In The Park meal plan. Ordering is a breeze and you even receive a cute “green” reusable Disney bag with the meal. While you and the family or your traveling group is touring Animal Kingdom, Disney staff prepares your tasty meal for later that afternoon. What’s better than a family picnic at Disney, right? Here’s how it works:
The process is easy. All you will need to do is first get your tickets to Animal Kingdom. Then upon your arrival at entrance gate, place an order at the podium located in front of the Guest Relations post near the front entrance of the park. There is also another podium outside of the Tusker House Restaurant. Your order can be placed anywhere from 8:30AM until 1PM daily. Your pick up time is only 2 hours from the time you placed the order. Be sure to plan ahead on when the group would like to EAT their lunch, so you know when to place your order that day. Upon ordering you will given a map of picnic locations throughout the park where you can sit and enjoy the meal together on a cozy picnic bench & table.
If you’ve already purchased the Disney Dining plan, then no worries, as the Picnic In The Park qualifies as a quick service meal. A Picnic In The Park meal for 3 will require 3 adult entitlements for example.
You have a couple of different options when ordering your meal:
-Tier One offers your choice of a chicken wrap, ham grinder, tuna pita or turkey focaccia sandwhich. The meal contains 3 sandwiches along with one side, 3 desserts and 3 bottles of water starting at $24.99. This meal serves 3 guests.
-Tier Two offers a choice of (1) rotisserie chicken or ham. You will also have two sides, 3 desserts and 3 bottles of water starting at only $29.99. This meal also serves 3 guests.
Starting May 10th, Disney will begin to offer vegetarian choices such as Portobello Mushroom and Vegetable Wraps on Tier 1. Sides offered will include Tandoori Spiced Tofu or Zucchini Squash (sides available for either tier). You are able to order meals serving 3-6 guests (prices vary on larger meals).
A large variety of side dishes (chips, coleslaw, corn medley, green beans, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes & gravy, orzo pasta, oven roasted potatoe wedges, seasonal fruit salad, or tomatoe & cucumber salad) and desserts (apple, brownie, cornbread, rice crispie treat, or an orange) are available to you (note: modifications or substitutions are NOT allowed and please inform the cast member taking your order of any food allergies). Pick-up is located at the Kusafiri Coffee Shop & Bakery. You will be able to return to the pick-up podium no sooner than 2 hours after you’ve placed your order, and with a copy of your order form in hand as confirmation, you can pick up your meal. Payment for your meal is due upon pick-up. Your Picnic In The Park meal comes in a reusable cloth bag and you are provided with plates and utensils as well.
